// JEEP BRAKES & BIG BRAKE KITS — QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Do I need a brake upgrade after installing bigger Jeep tires?
Strongly recommended. 35s and 37s add rotating mass that increases stopping distance 10–20%. A big brake kit or performance pad/rotor upgrade restores factory-level braking with oversized tires.
Why do lifted Jeeps need extended brake lines?
Lifts over 2 inches stretch factory rubber brake lines near their limit at full suspension droop, risking failure. Extended stainless braided lines add the needed length plus firmer pedal feel.
Are drilled and slotted rotors worth it on a Jeep?
Yes for heavy or off-road use — slots wipe away water, mud and pad glaze while drilling helps cooling. They resist brake fade on long descents far better than smooth factory rotors.
